all my smallest beginnings by ~ArthurPewty:iconArthurPewty:

.

Your first stanzas
were always too clear -
I could see through to
a break in the page where you

dropped a thought, or cut a line.
The flame of a lighter cut
thin paper pages:

browned and crisped their edges
to fringe, then left the rest in
tiny piles of ash, shavings
of words I no longer wanted.

My little fires and your little sparks
destroyed worlds.

The rhythym in the last stanza is all wrong.

The rest is pretty good though. I like the beginning the most.

What was that thing on your stats paper about leather car seats? Yours? I liked that.

You were right about the stars: each one is a setting sun.
:iconarthurpewty:
heh, no problem. Not my best work, but it's a start, maybe.

Doin' all right, man. I haven't been very inspired lately. This one isn't real good, but I'm rusty. Not sure whether anything'll hit me again anytime soon, so savor this... ;)

I like it, but I think the last stanza is unnecessary and actually drags the piece down. It's simply too dramatic in my opinion.

On the other hand, I don't really feel like it ends without the last stanza, or without something else. I'm not entirely comfortable with just leaving it at "words I no longer wanted" (especially since I myself don't particularly like that part).
